There’s a new way to describe what happens at Professional Mens Toastmasters meeting — inspiresome. Really, todays meeting was inspirational and awesome. Here’s proof – Twenty-four of our twenty-nine active members were there to spontaneously rise to their feet giving Alex Toma a standing ovation after his autobiographical story with an inspirational twist. Three guests and another new member added to the awesomeness. Add Bob Tauber’s hilarious valentine themed Table Topic and toastmaster Jeff High was definitely off on the right foot.
Faysel Manfaa gave a memorable Ice Breaker. Talk about strong, Faysel, born and raised in Morocco, his wealthy father told him at a young age “your shoulders are broader than mine, you are on your own”. Suddenly impoverished he managed to thrive and pursue is dream of moving to America. Sure glad he did. Runner Up Best Speaker.
Stu Gross alarmed us all with his tutorial on what it takes to be a computer hacker. His flawless use of the Tauber digital projector allowed us to see what he was talking about.
Mike Norris gave Part 2 of his “Team Work” speech recalling the story of Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers. Lombardi was able to develop an attitude of winning and team work on a former bunch of losers.
Stephen Huber gave an impromptu speech on American foreign policy drawing on his experiences traveling to the far corners of Asia.
Alex Toma finished the Competent Communicator manual speech #10 and what a way to finish! He told the story of an Iraqi immigrant who after listening to Tom Hopkins and Zig Ziegler decided that sales was the way to succeed in America. He couldn’t have been happier when his 5 year old son used the Tom Hopkins hard close to get a trip to Disneyland. You had to be there to hear the twist that brought us all to our feet. Winner Best Speaker.
